NaNoBloPo…because I just can’t manage NaNoWriMo right now.

Blogging, Social Media

I’ve wanted to participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) ever since I first heard of it. The NaNoWriMo web site defines the activity as “a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.”

There are no real prizes (except pride) involved if you complete a novel in a month’s time. NaNoWriMo was merely organized as a way to encourage the fledgling writer in us all to commit to a timeline and crank out some verbiage. If you manage to get the target words on the page at the end of 30 days, you can take the next 6 months to edit a masterpiece out of your freewriting

As much as I would like to participate in NaNoWriMo, I just can’t commit to that level of activity. So instead, I’m committing to NaBloPoMo, or National Blog Posting Month.

Using the same basic premise that powers NaNoWriMo, NaBloPoMo establishes itself as “the epicenter of daily blogging! People who want to set the habit of blogging by doing it every day for a month, including weekends, can come here for moral support, inspiration, and the camaraderie that only marathon blogging can provide.”

I’ve needed a kick in the pants for several weeks now to get serious about my blog. No that I’m a bona fide social media professional, it’s even more important that I can follow the advice I’m giving others on a daily basis.

So here goes…check back here every day this month, and I’ll have a new post. I can’t promise they’ll all be nuggets of wisdom, but I’ll do my damnedest to make ‘em interesting.

Bring on November!
