For those of you that know me very well, 2009 kind of sucked. Had I accomplished my goals with this blog, more of you would know about how the year went down. Since I kind of sucked at blogging, too, here’s the quick recap:
To cap off this banner year and complete the country music song that was my life, our dog escaped the back yard and got hit by a car during the last two weeks of 2009. Our kids returned from fun, carefree sleepovers to be confronted with the concept of death and loss just before happy holiday break.
To be fair, some good things happened in ‘09 as well. Both of our kids became confident in their ability to leap from a diving board at the deep end of the pool. This allowed Wendi and me to sit restfully in our lounge chairs and soak up some late afternoon sun instead of treading water and playing lifeguard.
I also came out of the failing business ventures and found myself at Collective Bias. I’ve said before that this job represents the opportunity of a lifetime, and I still believe that. We’re truly creating something that has never before existed every single day of the week.
As a better writer than I once said, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” Just as light and dark must coexist, so does the best and worst in our lives. 2009 represented some fairly low times for me, and I’m ready to see some pretty damn good highs.
I used to think the worst thing that could happen would be to lose my house and my job. Been there, done that and I’m still here. My family is healthy and we’re in a good place to start things all over again.
2010 is my year. Get ready for the show because it’s gonna rock.

Brad, I might have something that could help start 2010 off on the right foot. I worked with Wendi on a project in Tulsa/Topeka and my firm has a technical writing project we need help with…I instantly thought of you. Contact me via e-mail if you are interested in talking about the opportunity…best regards…Darren
